I wish Boker USA start making Chad's design in X-15. Any Pros or con on this material (X-15)?

Well, yes it was a pretty awesome aircraft or was that rocket ;)

Does that mean we'll have flying knives in our pockets?

I think Ktint means the rustproof Xt-15-N steel as also used fe on the Helios, Turbine, and my Heckler & Koch.

I like this steel: 0.4 % Carbon, 15.5% Chrom, 2.0% Molybdian, 0.3% Vanadium, 0.2 % Nitrogen, HRC arround 58.

Would be good for aquatic edc ing . Allthough i think the 440C in combination with Ti coating already solved this. Edgeretention is probably a bit better comparing XT-15-N to 440C or AUS 8. However
i think this would boost the price; and i would not like that. I am perfectly happy with my AUS 8 and 440C ones.
Just my 2 C.

;)

It's a French steel known especially for it's anti-corrosion characteristics.

Benchmade has started using it; I believe in place of H1.

I wouldn't mind seeing the original Subcom in this, since the only coated biscuits are all CE.

It is nitrogen steel that is virtually completly stainless (doesn't rust at all). Compares with H1. At the time Benchmade switched H1 for X15TN they claimed it was a tad less stainless but had better edge retention.
Boker started using it in its H&K knives on the basis it is used for HK MP5 SMGs barrels, and then used it for its whole "tactical range" (that was before Boker+).
They claimed it compares with 440C and ATS34. From my impressions, it behaves somewhat like 440C.

Aloha guys,

Yep, my bro Ravaillac is correct. I have noticed the behavior of X15 to be like 440C also. But IMHO, it's a great steel...especially in my part of the world.;)

God bless, and thanks KTint!

Chad...
maybe we should think about a heavy duty limited production run with an exclusive steel???
Send me a mail or PM Bro!

Yeah I think many people would be interested in some CLB designs in high end version (although the inexpensive one are just fine) with blades made of better steel and improved handles (G10? Titanium?).

I bet Chad has some nice heavy duty folder design that would fit the bill for this Xt-15-N steelupgrade.

Maybe a nice Wharncliffie.
Uhmm.

Ordinarily, I would think of a wharnecliff as a finesse design, rather than heavy duty, brute force. Of course, there's always the Crawford Dragon to contradict that. :)

Well Esave;

A nice droppoint more traditional like super duper heavy folder would get my interest too!;)

How bout a chris reeve style framelock or a backlock /puzzle lock with nice thick G10 slab and Turbine shapelike blade???

The way I see it, there are two ways a Subcom upgrade could go:

1) Hard work. Something like G10, Ti and a steel upgrade along the lines of VG-10, S30V, BG-42 &c. Manufacturing location may influence this.
2) Classy. CF or another nice looking material, Ti and stainless damascus.

Either way, I'd be in for one!
