Here is the final model in the XD Series, the XD Backup.

Specs:
7 3/4" overall
3 3/4" blade
1/8" thick O1 steel

This one has black linen micarta handles, with red liners, and brass tubes. The top grind is sharpened, but could be left rounded, if desired.

That IS a nice one - though I am already partial to the XD styling.
Yeah - good trick with the micarta - I would have guessed a light walnut for the handle and as a woodworker would have ended up a bit embarrassed at how wrong I was

John, is the butt end rounded off? It looks like it in the picture, but hard to tell (good picture though!)

The more I look at the graining in that handle, the more I like it.

Do you think that treatment is something that you could re-create with micarta?

The end is not rounded yet, I am not done hasn't sanding it yet, was in a hurry to get a photo. Linen micarta always looks like that, I will show you my Utility with linen handles on the 31st.
