Anyone get a glimpse of that knife last night? I wasn't taping the show, or I could have gotten a better look. It was small automatic knife, and that's about all I could see, since the scenes were rather dark.

I'll post this in Automatic Knives section also.

It was an OTF, I got the brief impression it had an "American Tanto" geometric tip versus a double-edge. A guesstimate blade length would be around 3". I could be wrong though.

Microtech maybe?

There's a pretty good X-Files thread on Community right now

Jim,
You MUST have had that on tape to play back, freeze frame and analyze!!!!!
All I saw was a flash!!!! My my thoughts were an Auto also but couldn't make it out for sure.

I couldn't figure it out. Whatever it was sure did carve up Dana's back. I've never wanted to be a knife blade so much in my life.

They shouldn't slide a knife into the picture when you're busy looking at other things...it's just not fair.

ProTech Duke.

There is a thread about this on Microholics I started that might be more helpfull...

I was kind of hoping it was an MT.

Quijebo is right, it's a side opener with micarta slabs. I'm not sure how long the blade is.

I am an X-files fan but I missed the show.
A few seasons ago they showed an automatic OTF spike type weapon, I recently saw something similar in BLADE magazine. Does anybody know anything about this knife? Was it copied off te one on the show? From what I remember it was the only thing that could kill the aliens.

The Truth is out there...........

Was that also a Sebertech pliers tool Scully used to pull that slug thing out of the guy?

The X-Files over the years has featured a number of blades. Ones I can definitely mention are Gerber EZ-Out Jr., Kershaw Liner Action, Leatherman Supertool and Wave, etc.

I had it on tape awhile, and saw the little auto used on Sunday's episode, and could have sworn it had an upswept trailing point. It happened too fast, though.

It's a Pro-Tech Duke light, with a Tanto blade.
The knife will be popping up on the show
throughout this season.

To grantdouglas: The OTF spike weapon that the alien bounty hunter used on the X-Files was a Hollywood prop, I'm afraid. I read an article about it (in a gun magazine, I believe) and the spike was quite complicated. The handle and the spike were quite real, but there was a pneumatic tube, or air line, run down the actors sleeve. On the directors command, a blast of air was shot into the handle. I believe the article also said the mechanism was loud, and not the silent weapon it was supposed to be. For potential collectors out there, I believe only two exist.--OKG

Thanks guys! Now there is another reason to watch X-Files...Gillian Anderson and Knives!
