So legend tells the tale of a day when a future captain of industry would lose a prized family heirloom while trying to discover the elusive tribe of mesmerizing warrior mermaids living off the coast of California.

Read the true story below !

How amazing would it be if the US Navy could find that knife buried all these years later. In my minds eye, I see images of the items recovered from the Titanic, and the recovery of the 112 Buck Prototype would be equal to a James Cameron documentary. The child treasure hunter in me is screaming, "Get in the car ! you can be there in 3 hours !"

In a perfect world "The 112" (patent pending - pronounced, "Thee") would be discovered this year, the 50th Anniversary of the 112.

Buck Knives History: How a Young CJ Buck Lost the Original 112 Ranger Prototype

Read below how a fight aboard the USS Ranger was the cause of the creation of the 112 Ranger.

Now where did I put my keys . . . . .

I never lost a knife in the ocean, but I do know someone who dropped his Rolex overboard. He was not too happy about that.

Anyway, I always thought the 112 was a cool little knife. Might have to get one, now, as I spent a couple of days on the Ranger, back in the 1980's.
