I've felt like I'm dropping to bits for the past week, started off with a stomach bug/food poisoning and then a dose of the man flu, but as today was my first day off work I headed out for some much needed fresh air !
The girls were all giddy as they had only had short local walks for the past 4 days~
As I walked round on this cold wet day I wondered what edibles, if any, were around. First find was this Chanterelle, slightly past it's best but if I was starving it would definitely go in the pot~
Found another decent sized one a little later~
There were still some berries to be found, here are some Arbutus berries~
And some Oregon grape~
Also found lots of Cleavers~
Are all these the tastiest edibles.....definitely not but in survival it's about sustaining life and these would go a long way toward doing that !
Snicker finds the thought of a squirrel a little more tastier and kept her eyes peeled for those~
Very wet weather and no fatwood....can you still get fire ? Today I fluffed up the underside of some Cedar bark and scraped some dried resin dust onto it using the back of my knife~
This really impressed me, it caught on the second strike of my ferro-rod but went out before I could get a pic. Three strikes later and I had a real strong flame~
There was even a nice shelter on this hike to sit and drink my coffee~
Yeah I know what ya thinking......where's the X-Rated fungi......well maybe it's just my dirty mind but here ya go
