I recently purchased an X ray vision online but since it's has arrival i have come upon a dilemma; I use my knife everyday. I carry it everyday. It will eventually need to be sharpened. I have noticed that the shape of the blade, ( tanto and serrations ) is not very accepting to every day use. I am considering exchanging for a Spec elite 1... I'm wondering if any of you guys have any info or anything you could share? Possibly you have had of currently own either of these knifes? Thoughts? Also my local excalibur cutlery guy said that because its still unopened i could exchange the knife directly with SOG - looking to confirm that.
I love SOG and i love the buttery arc lock :) thanks for help

Ive got nemerous tanto bladed knives i find them very good for every day use my self. Its all in how you hold a tanto when doing a normal every day cutting chore. I make use of the secoundary point alot as well as the long edge. I find the short edge work well to popping the tape on a box on the ends. While the main edge works well to de flap a box and the secound point works well for sliceing the tape along the top or generally cuttong on the flat.

sure there are better utility blade shapes sheep foot warncliff (warnsliff and sheep foot perform about same for cutting imo while warncliff has a much finer point) spear point and drop point.

In sogs id say if you want the more general purpose blade id go with a drop point blade with a nice deep belly(wide blade) with half serations.

pentagon elite 1 or 2 both offer serationswhile spec elite doesnt (least not in their paper catalog i have).

Preference for me is flat ground blades no swedge for a general purpose blade. For me personally i can sharpen them easyer and well when the knife gets all scared up i can use some nice 600 grit wet dry to make it look nice again faster. I dont not buy a hollow ground nice because of that though. But between 2 next to identical knifes in same price range one hollow one flat ground the flat grind wins out every time.

 Very nice review, Alberto!

You put the knife through a lot and did a great job!

Fantastic and very helpful pictures of the Arc-Lock! :)
