Hello,
Just created this account and can’t really figure out how to locate what I’m looking for..hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I’m looking for some X1 MF owners.

Question is in relation to the X1 Microflip I just acquired. Lots of research and good videos before purchase revealed a snappy little beauty with clean crisp action. Knife arrived today..action is unbelievably poor, as if something is wrong in there. Want to get some feedback from other folks.

Also, my apologies for riding coat tails on your post. I’m not aware how to find what I’m looking for and could only get a post on here by replying to somebody else's. Any help appreciated!

Welcome to BF!

Hogue has excellent customer service. Have you given them a call to ask about your concerns?

For the price it should feel good.

Unless you’re unfamiliar with knives I’d say trust your gut and see about a return/exchange.

Unbelievably poor in what way?

Opening action on the Microflip shoud be crisp, yes.. this is due to an internal detent system.. the downside to the internal detent system is that the closing action is not "drop-shutty," as the fidgeting masses have come to expect from modern button-lock folders. Closing action should be relatively smooth, but it's never going to guillotine shut like a Protech Malibu.. my X1 MF falls about 3/4 closed on its own (with wrist) before I have to guide the blade to fully closed with my thumb or index finger (still quite easy to do one-handed). If you're expecting a free-falling, drop-shut action, I'd go ahead and just return the knife, it may not be for you (and that's ok!)..

If it's the opening action you find to be poor - the pivot may be overly tight, pinching the blade between the scales and impeding the "crisp" detent opening.. as a first step, I'd try dialing back the pivot just a hair. If that doesn't help at all, or the pivot tension at which the blade will crisply deploy induces too much play - I agree - as you say, it's possible "something is wrong in there." In that case, I would definitely recommend reaching out to Hogue. As Dadpool mentioned, they have excellent customer service, I have no doubt they would take care of you..

I had a microflip bought at a reputable euro seller that came to me with a faulty lock. After getting an exchange, I can confirm to you that the action on both knives was as snappy as it could be, and opening was impossible to miss.
