I just noticed that BM "upgraded" the steel on their river and rescue knife from H1 to this new, to me at least, steel. does anyone have any experience with it so far? how does it perform compared to H1? thanks.

What I do know.
H-1 is rust proof, X15 T.N. is not.

Other than that I can only speculate.

IIRC X15 T.N. should resist rust very well, better than your average 420j2 (which is pretty good).
Going by the information on the alloy chart it should hold an edge about as well as H-1, maybe a little better at first (before H-1 work hardens).

IIRC, benchmade decided to switch to X15 because they believed that their end users would prefer the tradeoff in corrosion resistance for edgeholding that x15 offers. There have been reports of x15 rusting, it's not really in the same league as far as rust resistance goes.

I like the little I've learned about the X15 TN, I don't think you'd get it to rust, and I think it probably would be hold an edge longer than H1. Probably easier to work with than the H1 too.
