X5 Carry?

I got my Inova X5 a little while ago. I've been just slipping it in my RF, but has slipped out a few times. I've been meaning to do something about it but I don't know what.

I already carry a Prybaby and/or LM Charge, so I really don't want it on my belt (sheath sucks anyway).

So how do you non-cliped light owners carry?

I had that problem with the X5, so if I carry it I always put it in the cheap nylon case it ships with before putting it in my pocket, the friction keeps it in my pocket. I do the same with my SAK, keep it in my pocket in a case because otherwise it just slips out. I lost my last one like that :(

If there is enough room on your belt, you may look into a near horizontal kydex sheath made for abdomen carry, strong side or crossdraw. Kydex would provide a positive draw and resheathing without fear of collapse like most fabric sheaths. And if you don' t mind stuff around your neck, you may think about a kydex neck sheath as well. The X-5 isn' t too heavy nor overly large for this mode of carry. Go to www.dozierknives.com and take a look at their sheath section. Dan has made some kydex for flashlites at request.Their horizontal sheath would be ideal for abdomen carry.

The other alternative would be to wear garments with lots of pockets! A casual or photojournalist vest would do just fine. I have been doing this for many years. And have found it to be ideal for carrying all of your other gadgets as well. Good luck.

There is a sheath here that is made for the X5. I have one and it works just fine. It is also set up for either horizontal or vertical carry, which is handy.

I carry my Inova X5-T in Holster CO181 from brightguy.

I bought the "Clip On Nylon Holster for Inova XO / XO3 / T2 / T3 Flashlights," which can be seen at this web address: http://www.brightguy.com/detail.php?Sku=REECO181.

These sheaths may also be found in belt-loop rather than clip-on styles if you prefer.

I have tried horizonal sheaths and, personally, they drive me crazy. To each his own. Strictly vertical sheaths for me.

I've got two, and the one that gets carried has a lanyard made of Paracord. I just let the paracord hang out of the pocket or pouch, and then you just grab and pull the cord when you need light. Plus, then you can keep it down lower where it won't fall out. .

i keep lanyards on my lights that are long enough to be hooked to a belt loop. small black nexus hook on top, girth hitched to the light with usually round sennets in the middle for looks plus the required skull bead. this way if the light slips out, it can't go far and it makes for easy light retrival. i can make you one for $8 shipped to whatever length you want. i use between 6 and 8 inches myself.

Here is how I carry mine. My body Phil did some kydex for me so I can static rig it. Middle of pic.

I agree about the paracord. Ever since I started with that stuff, I was hooked. Here is some of my goodies:

Can't go wrong with that stuff. The noose on my Benchmade Ares is exactly 6 ft of cord. Good for emergencies.

Ya, pics!

Right now, Im carrying it with some cord(junk stuff) with that hangman's knot, to a key ring, then the key ring to a belt clip thing from Walmart. Clip that to my pocket, clippy side in. I push in the clip with my thumb, then pull the key ring off the clip with my pointer finger. Push pointer finger against my theigh, then draw upwards. Catch the light in mid-air (with pointer finger through the key ring.)

Place light inside your pocket, then pinch the key ring, push against and downwards on the clip, and its back in position.

The problem with it is, it still goes slightly horizontal (my cord stuff is too long). I can draw it out pretty fast though.

Very nice. How did you make the cool knots in the paracord?

Alright, now that you've posted the pic I'm curious about the other stuff... Could you give us an inventory list of what you have there? What kind of carrier/organizer is that?

Thanks!

I used to carry an original X5. Best way I found for keeping it readily accessible, but out of the way was in a rear pocket next to my wallet.

Good way for giving yourself a hip problem, too. I carry my wallet in my front pocket. The X5 goes into a belt holster.
