$479. They have a "One per Membership" deal going. Had a pallet full of them right near checkout with a big guy making sure that only one per customer.

Talked with him and he said that two customers had gotten into a shoving fight earlier that day. It seems that one guy wanted to get a bunch of these and so did the other guy. Would have cleaned out the store stock. Apparently they were gonna sell them on eBay.

Costco almost had to call the police.

Have not hooked it up yet, but have heard some good things about the XBOX 360. Looks pretty neat. Can't wait to see how it works on my projection HDTV.

Have been playing these on my PC. The big screen should be a lot more fun.

I love video games. Mostly Unreal Tournament 2004, Halo and Tribes. In that order, First Person Shooters. I like the philosophy of "Knock down the door and blast everything that moves!"

Looks like I will be busy this weekend....

DAYUM! Just looked at what these things are selling for on eBay. I am going back to Costco with my boxing gloves. That big guy is going down! Not really, I am SURE that they are all gone by now!

What to do now? Do I sell this rig on eBay? Or play tonight?

Anyone else like these games?

I'm an Xbox fan. I bought one for myself for my birthday a few years ago. I'm waiting on the 360. I have never gotten a system as soon as it rolled off the line. Mainly to wait for the few few runs to work out all the bugs. My geeky friends (OK geekier than I am) say that the PS3 is going to be better, but I dunno. I'm happy with my Xbox right now. I like FPS as well as third person shooters. I've been wasting A LOT of time playing Star Wars: Battle Front II the last couple of weeks. I also LOVE the Hitman games. Nothing like walking around and actually having to think about your next move, how to take out your target with the least amount of people noticing, and choosing which way to take out your mark (.45 hardballers or piano wire?...hmmm).
Anyway, I'm going to wait for a few more titles to come out before I get the 360. I might pick one up this summer. Please let us know how you like it.

On a side note, I HATE Ebay. It just feels...slimy to me. It used to be that you lined up the night before to get in line so that you could land your kid that ONE toy that he or she HAD to have. You would buy it to see their little face light up with pure and utter joy on Christmas. Now people line up to greedily snap up toys so that they can allow suckers to bid on them until they are making ridiculous $$$. I remember seeing Furby's in the newspaper a few years ago for 400 bucks! All it does is jabber, and it costs something like $40! Yeah, Yeah, a buyers market. I know...but it doesn't mean I have to like it;)

I don't know. A buddy has the Xbox and really likes it. I saw the Xbox 360 and knew it was the latest model and got it. Also Costco has an unreal money-back guarantee. Most things (there is a limit on computers) you can bring them back anytime -- that is anytime!

If it has bugs, I'll return it. No big deal. Will play it tomorrow.

It's the same old song and dance as every video game system. It takes the technologies of today and creates a faster, sharper game experience. However, from what I hear you really have to have Hi-Def to get the full benefit of upgrading to the 360. It's SUPPOSED to be backward compatable. That means your favorite Xbox games will play on this system as well as the new 360 software. They took a hint from Sony's PS2 that played PS1 games on it as well as the new ones a few years back. However, this backward emulation (or however it is done) is not universal. That means that unless the game was just an absolute knock down, drag out hit, then it probably won't play on the 360 yet...until they create a patch for it. THEN the only way you can get that to work is to have a cable connection to the net for online gaming. Pretty involved for my needs, really. I just need something to waste a few hours a week with. Work, animals, a wife, a home to keep up, etc..they all cut into my play time that I had as an apartment dwelling bachelor. We'll see.

Saw a display model 360 at Best Buy a few days ago. The graphics were very very good. Better than the regular Xbox. My teen boys love this stuff. They organize Halo parties and play online against others. There is a 360 in our future if they would just get enough stock on hand to sell. Best Buy didn't have any a few days ago. I figure after Christmas there will be stock available for sale.

Me...I don't have much interest in these video games, but I am a bit "Luddite". :(

Always liked the name "Luddite." I guess I am more of a techno-wizard. This is one step above a masochist.

There was a lot of HALO playing going on while I was at Fort Lewis, but at the time, I was uninterested.

I've played a good bit of HALO 2 in the last two months, though- dueling with Jordy and her dad is the most fun, and when relatives visited during Thanksgiving, and brought an extra X-box. We set up another TV in the living room, and had a lot of fun.

These guys play a LOT of different game systems, and don't seem overly impressed with the 360. (Don't click if lots of vulgarity offends you.)

munk, you're right, HALO 2 should definitely not make it so easy to get lost.

My son was caught in some power tube or another and kept dying. The game could not show him what was wrong or how to get out. I finally figured out he was in the wrong place and took him backwards, but that was 30 bodies later. It was really confusing and frustrating because the screen would say, 'checkpoint done'.

Well, I am gonna go hook mine up. If you don't hear from me for a while, you will know why.

Got Perfect Dark Zero, Quake 4, and Halo 2 (old xbox game). I loved Quake and Doom. So dark and murky.

Hard to turn down the profit I could make selling the unopened package on eBay...... But....

Got to be somewhat better if only becasue I am going to a big HDTV image from a 19" LCD Monitor. And 6.1 surround sound instead of these tinny computer speakers.

Wonder if I could get Anne to use ear plugs, take out my hearing aids and turn the sound up way up? Get the subwoofers humping and crumping.

Cranked the sound up once when Anne was not here until the blown insulation came down around the recessed lights. Anne did a lot of complaining about the mess.

Merry Christmas from the Kid!

BOOM!

I think that the PS3 will be superior to the 360 when it comes out. But the way I understood it, the 360 isnt the xbox 2, it is the xbox 1.5, and they will be releasing a better system to compete with the ps3. I sold my Xbox and my TV a while back and bought knives instead. . .

Rat, you've heard wrong.

The X-Box 360 is a major, major upgrade.

Has 3 GPUs essentially each of them much faster than the one the XBox has.

It's on-par stat wise with the PS3 on paper. I don't think anyone can really call which is more powerful till the PS3 comes out.

As it stands, the 360 is AMAZING graphics wise. None of the games out for it already use more than 1 of the 3 GPUs, so the games are going to just keep getting more impressive.

I still think the PS3 is going to have the market share lead, but the 360 will gain grounds considerably over the original XBox

As for compatability with XBox games, well you need to be connected to the Internet to download the patches that let you play the games.

Cabbit is right. The graphics are amazing! Unreal detail.

I really like the wireless controller with feedback. Got two of them in the Costco package.

Now just have to get used to the controller. Light years ahead of a mouse and the WASD keys for movement.

"This is my BOOMSTICK!"

There is such a thing as being "too good." Xbox 360 falls into that category. I just spent almost 14 hours non-stop playing "Perfect Dark Zero." Absolutely AWESOME graphics and sound.

The Subwoofers knocked some ornaments off our Christmas trees. The dogs were hiding.

BUT I don't have time for another addiction! Just put this on eBay.

Anne thanks me. It is a beautiful day here in Atlanta. We are putting on our Vanson outfits and going for a motorcycle ride.

The BMW R69 Thanks me also. With distractions like the Xbox, it will never get restored and on the road again.

Bye, bye X-Boxey.

Before I take the plunge. Never found a better first person shooter. A buddy hosts a thursday night LAN that features barbeque, beer and six hours of nonstop fragging.
There are a few aspects of HALO that are absolutely priceless. Putting a clipful of needles into an opponent, landing a plasma grenade on his visor or sneaking up behind them and applying a gunbutt, tenderly to the base of his skull is about as good as it gets.

the PS3's main advantage over the 360 is most likely going to be as a result of its blu-ray discs that hold something like 20-30gigs. the xbox 360s graphics are reportedly spectacular, especially in HD but developers are already having problems making full use of its ability due to capacity issues on the disks. Also, the 360 is backwards compatible via software emulation, essentially a port, so some games will not work on it and others may be quirky. I've heard that the HALO franchise was made a priority though so there should be no issues on those games.

The 360's main issue now is an overheating power supply unit causing fatal crashes, the infamous windows blue screen! they are recommending now that the psu is kept in an open area, preferrably not on the ground. some kids are even hanging it with string, which is supposed to help I guess.

and now to be TRULY geeky! The Xbox 360 has 3 cpu's running at 3.2ghz each and a 500mhz GPU. its essentially a small supercomputer with a specialized purpose. If I had the funds I'd probably get one.

The funniest thing though. I don't own a video game console, I've never played an xbox and heck, I only first saw one a few months ago!

(I don't get out much)
