Looking to upgrade for christmas. I have a bunch of xbox games already, so I'm leaning xbox 360. Is it a big pain to play xbox games on the 360? I'm open to the PS3 if its considerably better.

I've heard that the PS3 is going to be 6 bills to start with. I say go for the 360 right now. Trade your Xbox in for some games while you're at it.

Of course, I have a PS2, but only two games, Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, and Enter the Matrix.

I was told that the new Playstation would not be able to play PS2 or PS1 games, only the new "Blue Ray" discs. If that is true, then Sony has really shot themselves in the foot.

NO!! sony made it fully backwards compatible!

IMO wait. see what games are good then buy the system. unless you have some sort of hook up where you CAN get a ps3 at this point. i look at the PREORDER list and it's already a mile long....

The reviews that I have read say that if you don't have a HDTV with component video inputs, you are wasting your money on the 360. Not enough info on the PS3 yet but I would suspect it is probably the same.
The Xbox 360 is backward compatable only of you get the hard drive, I think that the old games have to be converted and written to the hard drive to work properly, again, not enough info on the PS3 yet.
I know there were some overheating problems with the early 360s, think they have been fixed.
Just get online and read up on both systems!

You have to download emulator software, to play xbox games on the 360, and not all of them will work. There are lists on the internet some where im sure. The ps3 will be able to play ALL games from ps2 and ps1. The ps3 will be able to burn dvd's. Hmm all in all I think that I am going to get the ps3, though I will probably get the 360 as well sometime. I dont know much about the wii yet but from what Ive heard it sounds to be a pretty interesting little machine. It's controller is motion sensitive, so instead of hitting buttons you wave the controller around in the air and voila movement on screen. The ps3 is capable of that as well though to a lesser extent. I really am torn as to which is better. Sorry if I didnt help much.

Don't waste your $$ on a first run production PS3. There WILL be problems with it and there goes $600 up in smoke (perhaps literally!) I'd wait until November to see what the price does on the 360, black friday sales may be able to net you one for alot cheaper along with a possible price drop.

well here's the deal with sony:PS3 isn't coming out until MARCH! THAT's RIGHT SONY PS3 NOT UNTIL MARCH!!!

i already have my xbox 360, i was never gonna miss out on halo 3...

Sound advice. My son saved up for a 360 and bought one in launch week. A new controller and two returns of the console (a repair and a replacement) and we're now running reliably. He learned a few lessons about patience along the way. And also about buying bleeding edge technology. We like the 360, some good games and they look good even on a regular TV. These things push the edge and I'd be very surprised if the same sort of troubles didn't hit early PS3s.

Im waiting for the PS3 because of the blu ray. I just got an LCD HD TV so I want to be able to play HD DVD movies too :D
