First of all I want to warn you and apologize for my rant. Well since you all have been warned, here we go!
I was wondering has anyone managed to order or pre-order Xbox Series X/S or Sony PS5, I would love to hear how did you do it!
Because for me and I assume many others it was impossible and this whole launch turned into an absolute disaster!
I think about a month ago, Sony announced a limited number of invite only pre-orders to specially selected people, which made it sound like they launching a new Ferrari model! Yet plenty of them ended up at online auctions, same thing happened with Xbox pre-orders. On a launch day, it was even worse, some stores were selling Xbox consoles only in their stores, which is a “genius” idea during pandemic! Most online retailers were raided by bots/scalpers, which left regular users empty-handed. Sony, released PS5 two days later and decided to sell it exclusively online through some major retailers. Walmart website froze for a few minutes and when it resumed its normal operations all PS5 consoles, by some magic, were Out of Stock and appeared online on “other” websites with prices tripled!
I understand that we are living in unprecedented circumstances and even giants like Microsoft and Sony are susceptible to delays and cancellations, however they should have been more prepared!!! Did they conduct any market research at all, or is it a business tactics to artificially create a deficit and stimulate the demand. I am really curious to see what are they going to do for upcoming holiday season!
I want to end this on a positive note, if you managed to get your pre-order/order congratulations!!! Definitely, share how you did it! If you are like me and could not even add a console to your cart, think about this way if there any issues with the new Xbox or PlayStation hardware/software, most likely they will be fixed or at least we will know about it by the time when we’ll be able to buy them!
