Emerson Knives "hit it out of the park" with the XHD Karambit. I have the Combat Karambit, and carry it every day, but this one is sublime. I've included a couple of comparison images. Very Beefy, but comfortable in hand. Flips and closes smoothly.

I received #65 this week. Best folding karambit they have produced. I was worried that the size was going to be too large like the super karambit but it really isn't much larger than the combat karambit. Not sure if I will be keeping mine but it is quite impressive!

You are welcome, cigarrodog.
I tempted with the EKI Karambit but it's whole different knife style. I will think on it.

Very cool knife. Do you feel its worth every bit of the $639.95 ? I am actually in the market for an affordable karambit for duty carry possibly so I am loving the photos and researching this style of knife for SD, emergencies, utility and pure coolness.
I also see it has a replacable lock tab made of steel. I know most are replaceable, but do they send extras with the knife?

I do feel it's worth every penny, but of course that's a subjective answer. My reasons? The level of quality is virtually custom, because of its' fit and finish. The XHD is overbuilt in a milspec way. The ergonomics are exceptional. Relatively easy to field service. Three way deployment. Flipping and closing is smooth. Replaceable lock tab.S35VN, true V Grind. The point is that all the extras have already been included. It is a heavier knife, but it feels great in my hand. Not too many knives, in the Emerson catalog, on this level exist. Throw in the fact that it's an Emerson, with all that this implies, meant that to me, it was a no brainer.

On the other hand, it is expensive, but not more than a table priced custom. If you're looking for a fantastic production karambit, I heartily recommend Emerson's Combat Karambit. It's a great piece of gear. I carry one everyday. I carry it on my weak side in reverse grip. With practice(practice, practice, practice), and use of the wave, there is nothing in my experience that will deploy faster. The Combat Karambit has exceptional ergonomics. Even without opening, it makes a great impact device.

The XHD is(mostly)for the collector(myself), or for the professional.

Great post.^
If I may, do you like the new Spyderco K-bit? I am really impressed!

I've never handled the Spyderco Kerahawk(if that's what you're referring to), but my preference is still on the Emerson. I'm confident that the Spyderco Kerahawk, using an Emerson Design, is a nice knife. Loving And collecting Spydercos, I'll eventually own one, but when I go out the door, I will be carrying the Emerson. it's a professional piece of gear, that even a relative novice like myself, can appreciate. YMMV.

If you ever sell I would appreciate first right of refusal as I collect number 66 and 54... Thanks a bunch!
