Guys that have a knife in xhp and cpm 4 which steel is a better all around

blade steel? Ive been reading great things about both steels.

Ive been thinking about pulling the trigger on a GB for quite a while.

This is another version of lots of earlier threads. Honestly, and I do not mean this as a dig or flame, I believe you're over-thinking this. S90V, ZDP-189, CPM-M4 are all at the very highest end of steel today, and CTS-XHP isn't far away. In order to show up the differences between these steels, you're going to have to be doing some specific task that highlights a relative strength (or relative weakness) of one or another of these. Buy one, cut some, be happy?

I honestly think most people won't notice the difference in steels. I bought the Manix 2 in CTS-XHP because I was getting a decent price, I like the ergonomics and it is a sprint run.

Frankly considering the prices that blade is going at right now, if you like the GB it's probably a better bang for buck. I've heard nothing but good things from it. While a hollow grind I haven't heard any reservations about strength. It's a tough SOB.

No doubt XHP much better in any sense, it better performs and much more stainless.

Thanks, Vassili.
