Just got one of these for christmas and i am very impressed. This is the largest of the Xikar products with a blade length of about 2.5in and it is one extreamly attractive gents pocket knife.

The blade steel is Z60CDV14 Stainless Steel@HRC 57, which i read in a knife mag is Euro AUS-8 (the smallest xikar knife made in seki uses AUS-8 the two larger ones are made in Italy). The blade style is rather unique (one that i really like) it is a cross between a drop point and a Tanto, this makes the knife an excellent slicer since the blade has two tips. This knife cuts very well.

The Excursion is a Ti Frame lock with carbon fiber inlays on both sides, it looks similar to some of the knives that Tom Anderson has been showing off recently. The lock up is extreamly solid with no blade play what so ever. My initial impression is that the construction of the knife is of Microtech LCC quality. Sometimes the lock is a little hard to close since the disengagement area is small. It also has a nice SS pocket clip.

The Ergonomics are very good, especially for a small knife, the thumb stud is a little hard to use but i like to use the opening slot.

Overall i think that Xikar makes a nice gents knife, and they should be good competion for benchmade and william henry.
