I remember purchasing a copy of a 110 with a 5 1/2 to 6 inch blade at a flea market or swap meet as a teenager. Used to see them quite often. I think they were made in Pakistan. They cost around $10. Sure would be nice if Buck made such a knife. Now that they have a 110 Auto and the 101 fixed blade version available, why not a 110 XL?

Probably demand or lack thereof. The 110 has a 3.75" blade. For me personally the sweet spot for a folder is right around 3.5" with 4" being the upper limit. Looking at a lot of posts over the years I seem to see more folks wishing that knife x had a slightly shorter blade more than wishing it was longer.

I presume that to make the 110 larger the would have to completely retool their production line. Maybe not but after all these decades that they've been making the 110 I'd think that if Buck thought the demand was there for a larger version, they'd have made one. That being said I'll admit a 110 with a 6" blade may not be terribly practical but I'd probably buy one if offered.

A 5 to 6 inch 110 may not be everybody`s cup of tea, but there is definitley a market out there. Just look at the popularity of Cold Steel XL folders.

Isn't the 110 already a pretty large knife for a folder? I mean, I get used to it because I love it so much, but my first impression was that it was huge for a folder. I just don't understand why you would want a folder to be any larger.

Sure, some competitors offer even larger sized folding knives, but the 110 is sorta the maximum size of what fits comfortably into my jeans pocket. The most important reasons for folding knives to exist is because they are more compact and can be carried without a sheath. If you need a larger blade, why would you not go fixed? A huge folder is gonna be just as threatening to sheeple anyway.

(It's always disappointing when a lady asks me: 'Is that a 110 in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?' and I have to tell the truth. Just kidding, that will probably never happen.)

In short, if I were to speculate, I don't think Buck wil make a larger version of the 110 anytime soon. What existing demand there is for larger folders is probably already cornered by some competitors and I don't see the demand going up by a lot.

Edit: (It's kind of Ironic that this is my 112th post. )

"A woman of infamous character was seized, and, on searching her, a cutteau knife , about 16 inches long, sharp pointed, was found concealed in her bosom".

I hope it was a folder...

110 with a 5 1/2 to 6 inch blade? That's not a folding knife... :D

I don't know about this, for me a 110 is the biggest folder I'd really ever need and that's only because I love it so much.
My real comfort limit for a folder s normally under 3.5", preferably 2.5" and under.
It would be cool, but a BUCK 110 and all it's brass has enough weight let alone scaled up to a 1010 and I don't even pocket carry mine. ( Buck includes a nice piece of leather for a reason )

I carry my 110 in a nylon sheath on my belt or without the sheath in a coat or jacket pocket. I would do the same if they ever made a larger version.

If she could hide a 16" knife in her bosom I'm thinking she was pretty well endowed.

By definition a cutteau is a fixed blade.

Must have been Dolly Parton's great, great grandmother!

As to a XL Buck 110 - it would be interesting to see, especially if they sell well, but probably too big for my tastes.

I think it would not only be too big for the intended use of the knife but would be extremely heavy to boot. The only way this would fly would be to have a synthetic light weight handle and a pocket clip. They would need to change the lock to a mid lock, as well, because of the necessary length of the handle (about 6" to 7" depending on blade length). It would no longer be a 110. It would be a new and distinct model.
