Hi

I have just reserved An XM-18 3.5 from a member here on the forum.

What i want to ask is, I would like to upgrade the hardware to the Ano Titanium Available from the main Hinderer Website.
Did Rick Henderer make replacement nuts for the lock side of the knife?
Its the 3 hardware nuts that the screws from the Scale size screw in to.
The Knife I am getting is A DLC coated knife with CF scale and I think all Ano Blue Ti hardware will look great!

Also does any one know when Henderer with have the Titanium Scales, Ti Blue Lockbar Stabilizer, and Ano Clips back i stock.

Lastly is there a Video or tutorial on how to disassemble and resemble the XM-18s?

I did a similar upgrade on a ZT 562CF and it looks amazing.

- No replacement titanium nuts, only steel ones and you can't buy them separately (well, on the Eklipse they've redone the standoffs so there's a screw from each side into a threaded standoff in the middle, those are available Ti/anodized, but no idea if they work on the 3.5" XM)

- any parts not currently in stock are, well... Could be next week, could be next year. They will occasionally say "these'll be out next week", but they don't generally announce things further out than that. Clips are particularly hard to come by lately - those that collectors occasionally put up for sale are quite literally gone in _seconds_. I've seen blue anodized hardware sell in well under a minute. And Ti scales are like unicorns, although there's rumors of some 3.5" ones upcoming. The Hinderer folk are currently having a new larger shop built - hope is that when it's done, all sorts of parts will become easier to obtain.

- the blue Ti LBS (lockbar stabilizer) is widely available these days. Check the "authorized dealers" list on the Hinderer website, a number of the dealers have that in stock, along with standoffs, scales, etc.

- Also, good score on the DLC and CF, nice combination and DLC hard to get these days. Those are quite versatile as far as color goes - you could do blue anodized, or bronze anodized, or start a little stealthily by just swapping in a set of brass or copper standoffs (and possibly LBS).

- there are numerous disassembly tutorials on YouTube, don't have pointer to any favorites. It's fairly straightforward if you're observant, and keep a few things in mind: work on a surface where you are unlikely to lose/drop parts (because your chances of replacing that ano'd screw that went down the drain are vanishingly small), use the proper sized tools rather than just "something that mostly fits", and be particularly careful with anodized titanium parts - it's easy to scratch the finish.

And welcome to the club! Being able to disassemble Hinderers and "redecorate" them is part of the fun :)

Hi Carl

Thanks for all the great Advice.
Sounds like Rick might get to making that hardware in the future. :)

Yes I am so Excited to of snagged this DLC version. was iffy at first as cheaper knives have a black coating on them that does not last like the real DLC.
I have been watching the DLC XM-24 on AZCK hoping that the price will come down, then I saw the XM-18 on the forum.

I am please it has the CF scale as well because everywhere I look, I could not find any if i went with one that has G-10.
I am please that the LBS will be an easy one to find, will place an order for one as soon as i can. I was able to grab the Pivot and Handle screws + the standoffs so fare.
So looking forward to installing them. This is my first and only Hinderer, went with one as I like the way they are customizable vary much ;)

Do you have A recommendation on the best tool? would it be the Henderer brand, it seams to be out of stock ATM.

I decided to get a new scale (red) for my XM-18 3.5. I can't remember if I saw it here or somewhere else, but the suggestion was to use a #14 spanner bit. I found one on Amazon for under $8.00 which included shipping. It is a perfect fit.
Got the Hinderer scale and spanner tool yesterday. The new scale is on and life is good.
