Hey guys: recently got my first XM-18" - a 3" slicer grind, non-flipper. I see this being a slippery slope I'm on!
I did a complete takedown when I got it to center the blade; works perfectly now, so solid and smooth at the same time.
As I checked out all the details, I noticed the hardware for the lockbar stabilizer (a 2/56 buttonhead socket if I'm not mistaken)
protrudes just a touch on the inside of the frame - has anyone else noticed? I removed it to check it out and it's 1/8" long so there's
no option really of a shorter fastener unless one decides to go custom.
I was going to post up a little iphone photo but still trying to figure out how to post flics.

You are correct, the LBS screw does protrude from the inside surface of the scale. It is irrelevant though, the blade can't touch it, the side of the blade will contact the inside surface of the scale before it would ever touch the screw. If it really bothers you, remove the screw and file/sand it down about 1/64".

Congrats on the knife, I carry the same one daily.

You are correct, the screw protrudes.

I love performance feedback, please tell us what you've cut with it so far, and how the knife has performed for you.

I went to town on some massive zip ties and lots of boxes/tape recently, my slicer was in serious need of sharpening after that. Oh, you weren't asking me were you, never mind, carry on.

;)

Thanks for the quick replies fellas - I knew this is the best place to get any kind of Hinderer info.
Rob - so good to see you guys constantly monitoring the site and really caring about your customers, such a rarity these days.
I haven't been in the shop much lately as I'm doing design on the computer but once I get some projects going I'll let you know
how it goes - I can see the XM being my main EDC from now on so it will get duty in the wood shop and on many fly fishing ventures.
I bought it from a fellow forum member and he said it was still the factory edge. Definitely needs some sharpening so when I pull
out the Tormek I will give it a nice honing and try to post a report.
