Anyone else think his other knives look better? The xm-18 may be more functional but I have always thought his firetac was his best knife. I kinda feel he is just being short changed with the xm

I have handled a custom firetac and agree, it definitely is a nicer folder for me. The XM is a tank, but the firetac is a Lamborghini

Hard to say really, I've only handled the XM18, XM24, and the FXM. I think the XM18 would be even better if it ever gets offered in alternate grinds.

Yeah, and I'll bet it slices better too. However, two different knives for two different purposes. I still have to remind myself that the XM-18 is meant for firefighters and rescue workers, either for prying a door open or cutting stuck seatbelts. Still, it fits my hand perfectly and would be absolutely perfect if I had a slicer grind and a stronger detent.

I like the XM-18 precisely because I use it for what it was designed to do. It is exactly what I was looking for in a duty knife.

Off duty I have other knives I like to carry as well but the XM 18 almost always comes along then too. It never stays home when I'm working though.

I just received my 3.5 inch XM-18 and I must say, it's a great knife. But not having handled any other Hinderers, I'm curious how they are. :)

I think the xm-18 is a great knife that excels at it's given tasks, I've always been a fan of Rick's other knives

oh, now you've made me regret again that I sold that firetac:grumpy:. At that time I thought I would be getting a custom spanto but in the end it didn't happen. I wished I did not have such a limited knife budget. The firetacs are my favourite also

If we are at all lucky, maybe ZT and Rick H will push one of thefiretac designs under teh ZT name...
