Very nice set! I'm partial to the 3.5's but a 3" is definitely next on my list. How is it with the flipper compared to the 3.5"?

They certainly are addicting. Owning one is just a start.

Only trouble is once you have 3 or more some don't get as much pocket / usage time as the others.
It's a shame, as the XM is one of the most capable folding knives I have ever used.

I do not own a 3" (yet), but have handled a couple brand spanking new ones.

The flipper on the 3" is a little more tricky to flip than on the bigger XMs. But, that is likely because I am used to my tweaked, adjusted, and lubed--trusty EDC XMs. Not a very fair comparison.

I believe if you play with the 3" a bit, you will learn to flip it as it breaks in at a similar rate. I like flippers for more than just opening the knife, so I am pro flipper on every size XM.

I agree. I've had the same experience in handling a couple flipper 3-inchers and figured pretty much the same. At first, I was thinking it was just because the blade is lighter (which probably is a slight factor in it) but I definitely think I'd get used to it- it is an XM afterall! :D

I often find when a tool does not easily do as I believe it should, it is because I have not discovered how to use it. Sometimes a tool is flawed in design, etc., but like I said, often I just need some hands on learning before I "get it".

My 3.5"s are more broken in But, my 3" snaps open with a flipper flick "Whacks" open pretty nice. I like flippers (but have non-flippers as well)
the 3' (IMO) is a must for a flipper actually more so than the other two sizes because it really does act as a safety feature moreso on a 3" because it keeps your meat back behind the start/finish line where it belongs. Sometimes being first in line is a bad thing (Black Friday and Walmart forgot to unlock the door:eek:and index finger on a 3".
just sayin'

Tell u what..My 3" Non Flipper--Is BARNONE the sharpest XM I have owned..Hair Popping SHARP....My fingers have been victims..

Thanks for the input Scott. That makes sense too. I think I'll have to go with a flipper for my 3" when the time comes.

IMO it is a must on the 3". Also, let it be noted that I'm not following up with a "cutesie" tag line like, "If I'm wrong I'll take the knife off your hands" I really see the flipper as a preference in many situations BUT on a 3" - I think the flipper is a must. No way my fingers would stay where they need to be on the 3" if the flipper wasn't there. Not so on the 3.5" or 4".

Duly noted- I will definitely get a flipper. I certainly wouldn't want to wind up cutting myself. I've also become accustomed to the feel of the flipper and just prefer flippers in general.

I scored a custom 3 inch flipper at blade and I was edc an XM 24 with Ti scales on both sides, the 3 inch is certainly a baby in comparison. However now that I have been EDC on and off I am converted to its size and capabilities, I agree with Scott, the flipper does in fact save cleaning finger blood off a beautiful knife.

Great looking posse - thanks for posting to share them.

Today was classic, I always EDC my Full Ti 3.5" XM18 (spanto/flipper) today was a loose nylon gym short kinda day.....out came the 3" (XM18 slicer)
Perfect EDC for summer shorts, still XM goodness just in a much lighter somewhat smaller package.
Love that flexibility.

I strongly believe everyone should try their best to handle every size XM. But also know that after doing so I want an XM in each size. I am in no hurry to get the 3", but my eye is open for a flipper Spearpoint or Slicer. It will travel with me whenever I visit places with a 3" blade rule. Currently I carry knives by other makers for that role. The shame. :D

They're probably gonna want pics Travis. :)

What you mean "They're"? You calling us "them", oh the horror....I don't wanna be lumped into a group known as "They"...NO!!! Are you not one of us, are we not all of like mind and prerogative? Ok, enough fun!:D

All kidding aside, some pics never hurt. The photo thread can always use them and it's a great reference.

Pics in the photo thread, don't want to dirty up Gizoman's thread.:D

Oh by the way..........Thanks again Mike!
