Why do I only see this screw in a very few xm-18's?

That is the screw that holds the stop pin in place. That placement is on every 3" model ever produced, as well as every GEN 1-2-3 XM-18 3.5", and every XM-24. So far,the only knives that do not have that stop location are the last batch of 3.5", so 98% of the XM's out there have that screw there.

Thanks- I just looked at an old picture of my first xm-18 3" and guess what, there is was! I sold it because it was a little too small for my hand. I have had 2 3.5" flippers and I guess they are both the latest gen.
Thanks for the info. I guess my powers of observation are dimming with age. I haven't had to dissemble one yet so I never noticed.
