Haze came up with a novel idea for his Umnumzaan.
He put a GITD O-ring on his zaan backspacer for easier low/no light identification.
What a great idea.
I did the same thing to my zaan. I also added three rings to my XM-18 backspacers.
They are hardly noticeable in the light and dont detract from the knives in any way, at least not to me. They do stand out like crazy in dim light though.
I also put two rings on the zaan thumstud/bladestop. I kept the black ones on and slid the GITD rings past them. One side worked well, the other catches on the frame on the way up and cuts itself off. Gee, the machining on the zann is a millimeter off on one side. Maybe I should send it back to CRK
Anyway, when it is opened, the rings dont inhibit lockup at all.
My camera wont pick up the luminescence in low light, thats why I have no picks of these in the dark, sorry.
This is a simple, unobtrusive, and cheap fix that comes in very handy. My XM-18 just got that much better.
Thanks again to Haze. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.
