does anyone know for certain what type of washers the xm-18 uses? i've heard teflon and I've also heard nylatron. does anyone know why these are used instead of phosphor bronze? also how well do the washers in the xm-18 hold up in terms of longevity?

I don't own one, but I'm pretty sure they're teflon. Teflon washers have the advantage of not really needing any lubrication and the action is typically a lot smoother than PB washers.

They're probably a little less prone to deformation through use as well

so the xm-18 doesn't need to be lubricated?

It does, but only Chuck Norris can do it!

Seriously. I use a thin machine oil and they even make an oil with a needle dispenser for knives. Unless you get the knife soaking wet and or need to clean a lot of dirt out of it, you shouldnt have to do too much lubing.
