I've been thinking about purchasing a used in very good+ condition Hinderer XM-18. Since the after market new price is so high compared to the dealer price, I have no idea what a fair price for a stellar used one would be.
Any thoughts out there would be appreciated.

depends on how used, what generation, and whether it is a mid-tech or the blade is hand ground by hinderer.

i have a mid-tech that i paid 550 for iirc. i was happy to pay it, and couldn't be happier with the knife.
 
Sorry, I guess this info would be helpful. If the knife has been used a whole bunch it sure doesn't look like it, it looks very good. It is a non flipper gen 3 model.

id say somewhere between $500-$600 is currently fair market value.

unless there is obvious damage, it is often difficult to determine the amount of use an xm has seen. the finish on the ti and blade tend to hide any blemishes pretty well.

A decent condition used XM is worth at least $500, IMO. NIB ones have been creeping up towards $600 on this site's exchange section. So that is where they have been landing lately on the secondary market.

I paid between $500 and $550 new for the 2 I have now within the last 2 months on this site's exchange section. I have no regrets.
