Well I just traded into a 24 and am looking to swap the scale. I really like the CF scales, but am torn between smooth or textured. Is the smooth scale completely without texture? And then there are the gorgeous Ti frag scales from Monkey Edge, especially the blue one... Well what say you? Which is better? What does everyone prefer? Thanks in advance!

Textured carbon fiber is the ONLY carbon fiber to have :D I have tried both and prefer the textured. The smooth is polished and offers no purchase assistance on the knife. Just my $0.02.

Anybody have a pic of the textured CF next to the stock black scale. They look pretty similar in online photos.

Why is textured cf so popular? Does it still shimmer like smooth cf? Does it provide more grip than normal black g10?

^ that looks awesome! I'm sold. My steel flame cross is going to look awesome on that :)

I wouldn't call it polished, it has a 400 grit finish in stock form and I have sanded mine with 320 to make them a bit more matte. Personally, I don't feel the scale adds or detracts all that much from the overall purchase as I wrap my knife around the handle. Then again, it isn't like I am frequently encountering wet/bloody environments where I need every bit of grip I can obtain.

Well, that is until Rick makes a Ti Textured DLC Pond Scum CF scale with bronze ano ;) :D

Yes. The definition of badassness right there!

Ps I love my text cf scales. Until I feel a Ti text scale in hand, these will remain my favorite scale option to date.

I'd also love to get my hands on a textured CF scale but it seems it would be easier for me to walk to the moon than actually find one I could buy.

I searched for months to find this one and the one for my xm 18. It's not easy but persistence pays off. Keep a vigilant eye on the exchange.

Vigilance is an understatement, have to stay frosty 24/7 on the exchange or you miss out. It happened to me twice just recently on some other things I wanted for my XM-18. I step away from the computer and come back to see stuff listed and sold in a matter of minutes! Haha

I am sure we can all agree that the right time to buy xm accessories you need is the second you see them available.
I would also suggest putting a WTB add up and put it in your signature. Many of the fine folks on this forum will help out if they know you are looking.
