I'm trying to decide between the 2 grinds. I have a 3.5" spanto on the way but also want an xm 24. What are the differences? Please point out any perceived advantages to the different grinds on the XM 24's 4" blade. I like both so I'm having a really hard time. The fact that I already have a Spanto should not factor into the decision, I want to hear what you think is the better option on the larger blade regardless of the fact that I already have a Spanto.

For the 24, the spanto would be the way to go. It is the workhorse of the bunch.. Then trade your spanto 3.5" for a slicer.

I would go with Spanto, it's a beast of a blade to go with the large handles. I don't the Slicer grind would do much to actually help it be a good slicer because of the thick blade. The 3.5" blade is a little thinner but the 3" Slicer excels in slicing because it's got the thinnest blade.

Hmmmm...

...Lemme think about that for a bit and I'll get back to ya!! ;) :):)

I like the spanto on the 24. I love the slicer in the xm18 but truth is the xm24 is a beast and the spanto just really feels right to me on the 24.

ohhh man that does not help!:-) is that a custom slicer?

Yes it is. I lucked out and scored it and a matching custom 3" XM-18 slicer from the lotteries @ BLADE 2010. ...Well, they used to match until I swapped out the black G-10 scale for a textured CF scale on the 24... :)
The production spanto XM-24 is a BLADE 2011 lottery score, and that one is on my pocket almost every day.

It would...but it remains a safe queen for now. If it had emotions, it would be pissed at me because it came within about a week of becoming my main carry folder, but I decided to hold out and see if I scored another at BLADE 2011...and so the production became the carry piece. The production 24 bumped even my user Gen I custom XM-18 to 2nd on the list of rotation, and that one has been carried for years. :)
