Well I was hoping that purchasing a zt 561 would cure my xm18 fever. Boy was I wrong. I want one more than ever going to purchase my blade tickets.

I know exactly what you mean. I pre ordered a ZT 0560 and 0561 in June 2011 meantime I started looking at Hinderers, I ended up with one XM 18 and two XM 24s, oh by the I have 2 ZTs 0560 and 0561. And I am also going to Blade. I think the whole hype around the Zt 0560/0561 flipper coroboration between Rick and ZT energized a lot of us. I recently picked up a titanium stonwashed scale on the exchange to replace the standard G10 scale. Now it matches the framelock side of one of my XM 24's, now this is a beast of a knife!

I pre-ordered a ZT0561 because I didn't think I would want to spend the cash to buy an XM, I ended up selling some of my favorite knives to buy my first XM-24, The ZT arrived the same week as the XM, The ZT was sold the next day. The ZT0561 or 0560 are definitely nice, Quality knives but compared to an XM, Every other folder I had comes up way short!!
Definitely get yourself an XM, Once you have it, You'll never need to buy another folder, Unless it's more Hinderers.:D

Truth here...

Well, I too will be at Blade and I prefer real deal over collaborations. I understand the desire for the XMs.
The collaboration ZTs are great knives. I carry my 0550 to the airport and leave it in the glove box till I return. I just cannot leave a real deal Hinderer unsecure like that. A far less expensive, easily replaced but quality knife flys in my checked baggage. I just cannot go knifeless for too long.
0560 and 0561 and 2 Cryos all preordered. I continue to purchase many different knives even though XMs are my current favorite folders. I buy XMs too and plan to continue for as long as I am able.

I feel your pain. My first Hinderer has not even arrived yet (another day or two, USPS depending) and I am already looking at my collection of Benchmades and Chris Reeves as potential for sell/trade for a couple more Hinderers.

I agree with Mountain Wildman totally, my ZT 561 has sat on the bedroom dresser for three months now, they are great knives but not Hinderers. I also have thinned out my collection of other folders and am now concentrating on my Hinderer collection. As far as them becoming "safe queens" that is not going to happen either, I bought them to use ( not abuse) ! I have a farm and whenever I reach for my xm 24 throughout the day a small grin comes across my face. I believe to truely appreciate the toughness of a Hinderer you have to use it and not just look at it. The way I look at it, why keep it pristine for the next guy to use!

Agreed, use but don't abuse...unless you have no better option. That's why I EDC XMs, I truly believe they will come thru if / when they must. Hinderers take "abuse" and just smile at you when it's over.
XM 24 is my favorite folder to date. Followed very closely by my (more practical for me EDC sized) XM 3.5.
I use my ZT also, just way, way less often. So many other knives are getting dusty.

I have Mountain Wildman to thank for my ZT 0561, I really like it, the feel to me, is better than the ZT 0560. I'm still getting in line when the run starts for the next XM production.
I still want a XM-24, that god patience is a virtue! LOL.

I am happy the 0561 went to a good home where it is used, It would have just sat in a drawer after I got my XM-24, The ZT is too nice to just sit in a drawer!!
My next Hinderer knives will be an XM-18 3.5" and I'd like to score one of the Hand Ground XM's.

Over the years as those who know me have asked, "So Porsche or Camaro, Levinson or Audio Research - which was the best, which did you Love?

Answer? easy, Both and Passionately.

Hinderer XM's, Gerber and ZT collaboration? Answer, Thank you Rick for ALL of the above.

It makes the experience available to all, unabashedly Great knives to carry in the pocket. Period.

Seen it too many times in the rarefied air of the extreme Hobby, as the journey goes sometimes we lose focus. In High End Audio - it's about the music.
In Cars, It's about the feel and the sound and whether when you park it and walk away - Do you look back?

With Knives...... Do you feel good carrying it in your pocket? Do you feel like "Cool, I've got a great tool that probably NOT everybody else is carrying"
That is why I say over and over when asked, " Yes!!!! own a Hinderer and if by some twisted accident in the universe you decide I advised you incorrectly, I will buy it from you, No harm No foul. So far the Hinderer Mistake Fund is Untouched.

Bottom Line, I met a young man in a Sears store one day and he was as proud as can be to "Own" and use a Hinderer product. Did not matter to either of us which one
a connection had been made and if nothing else that was pretty cool. I am 51 years OLD and he is a young Man starting out and both of us connected over a knife.
We know (here) it is more than just something that cuts stuff and that is pretty cool too.
Here's to the passion, the addiction, what's in your pocket :)
