I found my 3.5 spanto xm to be perfect for my edc needs. Well I bought a 3 in slicer and it has been the only knife in my edc rotation. I am amazed how small it feels in my hand for being so close in size to the 3.5.

Glad for you. The 3" is tiny, but a robust build with great quality and design.

I'm a 3.5" EDC guy. Everyone has different needs and wants, sounds like the 3" Slicer meets those for you.

LOVE---LOVE....My 3" Slicer... I presently own only 3" XMs ..as said.. a PREFERENCE..................;)

How many do you guys own!? Good gosh, I felt bad about multiple CRKs but a single xm is twice the cost of a CRK.

I thought you'd have realized how the 3" feels after holding/seeing mine at Blade. My 3" XM "user" and my old school 3" Flashover are my favorite sized Hinderers I own.

Have XM-18 3.5 and 3in like them both would be hard to decide which one to get rid of but don't have to worry about that there not going no where except in my pocket everyday

I should have a ZT 0560 delivered tomorrow which I'm hoping will give me am idea as to how a xm feels.

Very different feel in hand. So many differences. ZTs are good, but are not XMs. Ergonomics may be similar, but once you hold both, the differences stand out greater than the similarities. For me, at least.

As I have posted before, When I got my 3" slicer I opened up the box and kind of said, "Oooh, that is s m a l l yikes"
Then Summer arrived and shorts.
I now have carried my 3" slicer since May....
Fall is coming and the evenings are growing cooler here in the Pocono Mountains of N/E Pa, the jeans are starting to make wake up noises and so is my trusty 3.5" Spanto Flipper:)
One of the few aspects of the change of seasons I don't dread. Jeans and sweat shirts (not a sweater guy) rides into the mountains to see the leaves and the reflections in the river, summers last Fairs, kids back to school, Football games in the chill Friday night air.
I like my 3.5"XM for these times but.... Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, Spring and Summer will come again and I will hear my 3" slicer starting to wake up too.
I would like a few more of those cycles :)

Yes the 3 in felt too small. But after getting it and using it and having it disappear in the pocket I enjoyed it more. The thinner blade in slicer grind is easier to use for food items. Not that I am getting rid of the 3.5

I agree very different feel. Zt is a bigger heavier piece. I didn't get rid of mine because I liked the textured ti surface.
Still a very nice knife

I'm considering my first Hinderer and I feel the 3.5 is the perfect length if I'm going to have just one to start off with. What are your thoughts on if you had a single hinderer which would it be? I imagine carrying a small sebenza for summer shorts weather.

Thank you,
Hans

If I had to have one 3.5. I do like the 3 in for more of my day to day uses but a cheaper knife would suffice for that. The 3.5 is just so robust. Withe the stonewashed finish it looks like a tool you have used for years and fits so well in the hand

I'd probably have a 3.5 as my only, if I had to. Such a versatile size, and a great fit in the hand. I love my 24, but it's a big knife, and not always the best choice for that reason.

If I only had one it would be what I will suggest to you as a starter as well.
XM18 3.5" Spanto Flipper stonewashed with G10 (color, your choice)
Then you can go from there.

Thank you all for your input, that pretty much sums it up for me. Either going to try and trade for one now or wait until november and buy one new.

Love the 3 inch XM-18's pocket presence or lack there of. It rides in the pocket unnoticed. But it still has all the strength and robustness of the 3.5.
Great ergos and plenty of cutting edge for any task. It excels in every category that makes up my ideal Every Day Carry knife.
