XM18 deep carry clip screw question.

Rick pointed out that the ZT 0560 deep carry clip would work on an XM-18 if you put it on over the filler tab. The only problem is that the screws are too short to engage the frame threads through both the clip and the tab. Anyone know what size screws would be required?

Thanks

Not trying to ignore this, but I have gone the opposite direction. My ZTs now sport XM clips.

Measure the thickness of each of the clips and determine any difference. Measure the thickness of the filler tab. Measure the length of the current screws of the XM, use all the measurements and solve for "X".

I also swapped an XM clip onto my 0561, as I really dislike deep carry clips. I was asking for a friend who was curious. The only deep carry clip I have left is on my Rukus, and that'll change as soon as I find (or make) a satisfactory alternative.

I hear ya, I'm not into deep carry clips either. But people's needs and wants differ.

I believe they are #2 UNF threads. The normal screw is almost 1/8" of threads which is how screws are sold. The clip is .050" thick so you will want a screw around .165" of length, 3/16" is .1875" which would be ever so slightly long but that is the one I would pick. #2, 3/16" length.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I was going to guess #2-56, don't personally know but most all knives I have come across use #2-56 for clips, maybe a #4-40.

I measured it today, it has to be #2 if it's standard. I very much doubt it's custom but I am not a Hinderer expert. It's .083 OD which correlates to #2.

I measure the ZT 0560/0561 deep-carry clip at .040" thick. That is the additional length to consider for the appropriate screw.
