I've been looking into getting an xm-18 for awhile and have come across pictures of some called fattys. What is the difference in a normal and a fatty?
Thanks.

The way it was explained to me, and Rick, Rob or someone more "in the know" can correct me - it's an XM-18 blade on an XM-24 build (handle etc.). :)

Rob has seen me shoot he's not going to say a word. :)

Basically it's a blade the thickness of a 24 on a 3.5" XM with XM-24 standoffs.

I like that slicer, I think I need one of those and one spanto. This production spanto is nice and all, but not THAT nice.

I guess I got that 1/2 backasswards. :D

Nice pics and thanks for the explanation. Why do you have those top secret pics?!!

To quote Rob Orlando, "Fatty .190" blade thickness, standard 3.5" XM-18 .165"

A Fatty is more of an XM24 blade thickness in 3.5. The handles are XM18 handles with XM24 standoffs. ;)

Thanks rickCPD,

I have to go over there and see how the bidding is going now - freaking crazy money man!!

Are the blade thickness and standoffs different between a 3" and 3.5"? If so has there been a 3" fatty made?

Yes there is a difference (like you go from 18 to 24)
And no 3" fatty's have been made (good idea though)
