So my dad has carried his scrade lb7 since he was a teenager. He carries it in his back pocket and the knife is super beat up. I was thinking that it would be a nice gift to get him a new knife for xmas.

The way he uses his knives i wouldn't want to spend more then like 50 bucks on it. He always carries his knives in his back pocket and he doesnt seem to like the new tacticool knives, He says they are unnecessary for what any normal person would need them for and you could defend yourself with any knife. (He is a jujitsu black belt and feels that your never without the weapon because your mind is the best one). But despite that he uses his knife for just your normal stuff. Open a box cut some stuff up, do stuff around the house.

What do you guys think would be a nice gift to get him?

If he likes traditional knives, a Buck 112 would be like his old schrade, but a much better knife. You can get one for less than $50 also.

Not to derail the thread, but he may not want a new knife. However, if you want to get him something nice , get a blade laser inscribed with something meaningful.

Wow thats a good idea. if i get him a new knife he might not want to carry it... but it would still be a gift that says i care, not like something stupid like some chocolate or a tie.

however it takes almost a month to arrive from China

Yes on the Ecolites OR the Bucklites. I prefer the later.
Does dad want a pocket clip?

Take a look at some of the knives from AG Russell, good quality and not bad prices for the ones from China. I do not mean to get in a discussion of those made in that far east land. AG Russell has taken care of getting quality items and they are good to work with if anything goes wrong.
