Xmas sharpmaker sadness

9:34pm pst, Saturday, Christmas evening 2005. Just finished opening packages with the family. Wife got me a sharpmaker as I had suggested.... only problem is it came with a vhs instead of the dvd as advertised.

My wife specifically ordered it from the online place who advertised, "now comes with dvd instead of vhs", because I had told her I wanted the dvd. We don't have the means for playing vhs anymore.

What really sucks about this is I took vacation time on Monday, mostly to watch the dvd, read the instructions, and practice on all of my knives with the mighty sharpmaker. Bummer.............

No friends or realtives that can stand you long enough to have you there for 30 mins to watch the video? ;) Bring beer, it usually smooths the way.

Hi Wayne,

Sorry for your disappointment. We haven't made any Sharpmakers with a video for quite a while.

If you contact Joyce at Spyderco (jlaituri@spyderco.com), I'm sure she'll send you a DVD.

Hi
I just got one last week and didn't watch the video. I looked over the direction sheet and now I have a razor edge on all my knives. Seems very straight forward.I'll prob. watch the video this weekend but I had no problems without it.

Wayne,

As Sal mentioned, email Joyce at Spyderco, and she'll take care of your problem, pronto!...Spyderco has the BEST customer SERVICE in the industry.

(BTW, if you don't know, Sal IS Spyderco!)..

Until the DVD shows you can find everything you need to learn in the excellent instruction manual. It even has pictures in color!

Sal,
How about putting the instructions and even the video's on your web site? I wouldn't think it would take up much room for the instruction sheet and I am sure I'm not the only customer who has managed to misplace either or both. Thanks for all the helpful info in my short time on the forum.

Hey Sal.
Marcus here from malaysia. we are still using the old stock of the sharpmaker model 204. and that is shipped with the VHS as well. the store that sold it to me had a Video CD made that was converted from the VHS.

Wonder if you could ship some Sharpmaker DVDs over here for circulation as well... either way will contact Joyce all the same for help.
Thanks Sal, love the knives and all that come from the brand :D

My apologies everyone. There has been some miscommunication here at Spyderco. We keep only a couple loose copies of the 204 Instructional DVD on hand. This thread generated dozens of requests for Sharpmaker DVDs. Unfortunately we don’t keep enough stock to fulfill all those requests since they come prepackaged with the Sharpmaker System.

Last time I looked New Graham had them...

Our goof and my apologies for the confusion.

I wish you a yours a Happy New Year.
