I got my new Blade Magazine today and found an interesting article in Question and Answer by Wayne Goddard. Its a nice one pager by our own Greg Covington (Exrayed) Good job Greg!

Wow...I have not seen it yet.

Wayne and I had been in communication about Goop quenchant. I used a formula that he wrote about. It works great.

I am getting a nice fast quench that hardens things like RR spikes and cable damascus.

40% Paraffin, 40% Lard, 20% Automatic Tranny Fluid.

It soldifies between uses, making it handy to have in the shop.

With all these knifemakers around-lard is a very available ingredient too!!!!!!

I have been using that mixture of goop for years as my main quenchant.The only time I use anything different is when I do a double edge Blade and quench in my pipe tank which is still oil...

Mark, Yeah I asked a dumb question and they put it in Blade Mag also. Xrayed and I have our "claim to fame" this way.
