These are the pieces that I have gotten from Clay. I am quite impressed. They are both for my 42, but as I understand they can be used for a 45 and I would assume the 44 and 48 also. I meant to do a review on them, but I'm a bit slow, so they'll get a quicky here and now. The pics are all with my 42 for size comparison.

Neck Sheath: One word to describe it "awesome." I love this thing. It holds the knife as tightly as I could ever hope for, and draws very smooth as long as you aren't too aggressive, just like any other neck knife. The 42 carries very nicely in it, it works great, but it prints in a t-shirt so it's not good for a concealed carry in some areas. If you can carry one open or if you wear a sweatshirt or jacket over it though, it should provide decent protection against printing. I got it just for a utility carry position, and they are legal to carry in most places around where I live, so it's not a problem. As I have stated, I love this thing, and I carry it quite often when I am off campus.

Belt Sheath: Very nice to carry. I wasn't terribly sure about this one when I got it as I am not bothered by the belt sheath provided by Benchmade. This one carries a bit tightly for my taste, but it is very secure, so I think it is a good trade off. If you don't like the sheath by Benchmade, this would be the next best alternative as far as I'm concerned. The tec-lock(sp) is a very good way to mount it to a belt, and works very well. It gives a good number of carry positions, so you can choose, although some will be preferable to others, it still allows an additional custom fit you can play with upon reciept. It allows for decent cocealment with a t-shirt or other untucked shirt also. It also appears to be completely reverseable, so left handers or double balisongers will have no trouble with it.

In conclusion, I think this is a very good set to have, and the price was unbelievably reasonable, especially after I have looked at other concealex carry systems from other custom/semi-custom makers for various knives. I am quite pleased with mine, and I would have no trouble recommending them to anyone else.

My father also purchased an Xtreme Concealex sheath from Clay for his CRKT Komodo, and was very pleased. Clay is quite reasonable and easy to work with on the sheaths, and makes a fine product.

He didn't do a loop, he used a tec-lock. If you are not familiar with them, they are a square-like mounting system made of plastic. It has a pattern of holes on it so you can screw the sheath on in several positions. It has a hinged clip backside so you don't have to take your belt off to take the sheath off/put it on. They are quite nice and come in several sizes. I know Spyderco has been using them on their fixed blade sheaths for a while.

I couldn't get a decent scan of it, I hope the description was okay. If not, just let me know and I'll take the tec-lock off tomorrow sometime and scan it real quick to try and get some decent pics, then post them here.

How are the knives locked into those things? (Sorry for stupid question, I'm new to this).
From the pictures it looks like they're just inserted and can easily be dropped ?
How does the locking mechanism work?

How do you wear a "neck" thingy ? What's the rope for?

If I have a Jaguar, do I need a special Jaguar sheath, or can I use any sheath?

Those you got there are nice looking, btw!

The sheaths are molded around the knives, and even though they just slip into them, they are held very tightly. The locking mech is merely friction, provided by the nice tight fit.

Also, for a Jag, the Jag sheath works fine for it, or you can buy just about any belt sheath that will fit it and it also should work just as well.

Oh yeah... You wear a neck sheath around your neck so the knife hangs in the middle of your chest. Works just like a neck knife.

Cool, now where can one find a distributor of tec-locks? I did a search and couldn't find anything besides two bladeforums articles that mentioned tec-locks.

Thanks

Hey Tique, thanx for the good reviews. You do know you can loosen the screws on the Horizontal to make the Bali release easier right?? Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Tec-Loc's can be ordered from www.Blade-Tech.com . Just call the number on their site and ask for Robert, or someone in "SHEATH SUPPLIES".

The smaller ones go for $6.99 and the larger ones are about a dollar more. (FYI:The smaller ones will fit all but Military sized belts).

They're about the best way to mount a sheath. Now I wish I could figure out a good way to use them on the double Bali sheaths.

getting 'em open
is half the fun!

Clay, I wasn't even thinking about that on the belt sheath, I'll try that next time I'm at the house.

Kydex, or concealex can get wet without any problems cause it's basically plastic.

I'v got one of Clay's inverted V sheaths, and love it! you can see a pic and review here at Snipe's site:

http://www.contrib.andrew.cmu.edu/%7Esoo/balisong/article11.html

you'll need to click on the "X Concealex" link in the top right of that page for those of you who havn't had the pleasure of visiting Susan's page yet.

This is really an amazing sheath. Especially considering it was one of the first few that Clay had made in this design, it looks like he's been doing it for years. I dont wear it on a regular basis, but the 5 or 6 days that i have, it has worked great. Like Sniper says in his review it really is not uncomfortable at all while sitting, which would have been my main concern. I have a 42 in one side, and a 45 in the other and both are held in very well. One of my favorite parts is that the belt loops on the back are not complete loops, but cut off and curled over at the bottom, which means you can pull the whole rig off your belt in a matter of seconds. Pretty much anything other than a t-shirt will cover it up, but be carefull when you sit down in a chair without a full back, in other words one that you can see through

Overall this is an awsome sheath, and most deffinatly gets two thumbs up. Now that i have this one and can see Clay's workmanship, i'm dying to try his other designs, especially that neck sheath up there!!

He'd easily have my money right now if I wasn't getting some concealex for myself at the moment. heck, I might get an inverted-V one, just to check out his craftsmanship (because you just have to admire great craftsmanship)

I haven't asked this one yet, but since others are interested in these B.A. xconcealx sheaths and some already have them, how much do they cost? I like the double bali ones and the single sheath, but do they cost my weight in gold? I know they're custom and should cost that much but I dunno...

So you have the neck sheath on your chest, like under your t-shirt? That doesn't sound very concealed, or quick to draw! Sounds like fumbling with your hand under your t-shirt!

So how do I go about ordering these things? I could not find them at balisongxtreme.com's online store?

Clay, I would like a couple like those on the pictures in the first post, two (opposites) for my belt and one for my neck, for my Jaguars HC-23S! Where do I send my money ?
And how much? 8-)

bloodyknuckles--The cost is very reasonable. I don't remember exactly what I paid for the pair, but it surprised the hell out of me, thought it would be a good bit higher. Just send Clay an email and ask, he's great to deal with.

Gigante--Well, you don't have to have a neck sheath under your t-shirt. That is one way to do it to keep it more concealed, and when I do carry that way I don't tuck in my shirt, so it's pretty fast to draw. I usually just wear it over whatever I have on if I'm working and using my bali as a cutting tool, and where I live, that is not a problem.
To order one, just send Clay an email with what you want. Like I said, he is extrememly easy to deal with and has a pretty quick turn around time.
