This is XW-42, I was surprised. Carbides are striped and the problem is serious. The label is not torn off.









This is D2(DongBei special steel), of course, I have met a lot of bad quality D2. The following picture is good for D2.







The D2(DB) carbide is evenly distributed and its shape and size are also good.
 
Please provide some sort of measurement scale. I agree DongBei's D2 has better carbide didstribution. Would be good to know this D2 top 5% largest average carbide diameter. Thanks.

D2 (DongBei): According to the heat treatment process, the carbide diameter will be different. Standard heat treatment process - the maximum carbide size is 40um (individual), the normal maximum size of the carbide is 20-30um, the normal size of the carbide in the 10-20um. There are two kinds of small carbide size, one is precipitation class, very small, the other is small, the size of 5-10um range. Special heat treatment process - the maximum carbide diameter is about 20um (individual cases), the normal maximum diameter of the carbide is about 15um, the size of ordinary carbide diameter within 10um (most), small diameter carbide within 5um , And the shape of all carbides is close to round, oval, without hard corners, and evenly distributed.
XW-42 carbide size is very bad, two sizes (maximum size, normal maximum size) are breaking the 60um, 80um each individual.
