Greetings all!
I have 3 Schrades (106OT, 33OT, 833UH) all with a "XX" engraved over the model number on the tang. Can anybody tell me what this means?
Thanks in advance!

Those are reject markings. Sometimes the company name was ground off, sometimes lined thru with a chisel, sometimes "X"'d, and sometimes the tangstamp was ground off altogether.

Thanks Codger 64.
I'm guessing these markings change the value of the knives a bit.

Dos Equis! :D Gotta like that!

For most collectors, it kills the value. For a few that specialize in these rejects, it increases. They are interesting, and it is sometimes a challenge to compare them to a production QC approved knife and find the flaw. Some later rejects were not marked at all, and it takes a good eye to see the problem. Or not.

Don't let the xx bother you to much, they will still make great user knives. This old reject has served me will for last fifteen years.

I've seen uncles,old timers,and hertige bone handles
with XX on the tang,I had customers that sold at gun shows
and swap meets, and ofcourse I had a large business in
mexico, and they loved the seconds, you sell them for 50%
less.they always released them in large amounts.camillus
destroyed their seconds, queen would eletro etch the blades(1981-1985)
with " SECONDS" on the blade.western would stamp a"2".
all the companies had seconds.it's business.
