Here's the problem:

You're going out with your wife/significant other on New Years' Eve.

You know crazy things could happen, and want to carry a small blade with you concelaed so it won't attract attention, but still be instantly availble to cut bread, cheese, or whatever evil you have to deal with in the event you need to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Remember, you may be seen publically by friends, business associates, and others who wouldn't understand why you've got that Super-Tactical, Turbo-Boosted, Serrated Official Navy Seal-James Bond Auto-Dagger in your pants!

What's the best to carry as the 20th Century turns into the 21st???

Your carrying only one knife?? (I hope not.

) You use your small sub 3" blade knife(Spyderco Pegasus) for what not, and your back-up knife can be whatever. Then your back-up knife to your back-up knife can be the "Super-Tactical, Turbo-Boosted, Serrated Official Navy Seal-James Bond Auto-Dagger!"

Here's my plan:
Bop the gremlin over the head with a bottle of the (cheap) champaign then point the other way.
Make sure my Moran FB1 is loose in the sheath and disappear on the dance floor.
Besides, at midnight, when all the lights go out and the entire civilized world as we know it ceases to exist in a massive Y2K shutdown, who will really notice?
And anyway, the millennium doesn't REALLY begin until 2001 so we're going to have to go through all this again next December

I'll be working, so that means a Large Sebenza at my side.

My trusty HI 15"AK Khukuri in a shoulder holster. And I do have to be out that night.
As a back up, I've got my .45ACP with extra long fodder feeders.

Hello,

my Tactical plan is to Just STAY HOME!!
Im more comfortable At home anyway, and anyway i dont want to miss DICK CLARKS rockin new years Eve.

I mean the BAD GUYS can come buy my house if they like but, i hate being interupted during watching of the big Event on TV.

my . 02

Allen Blade

But if i was going out id Pack my MEUK Talonite blade in the 4 inch format, and my
P7 M13.. 8-) and yes i have a Concealed carry permit.

Hmm, where I will be I don't expect to have my life threatened. I may be working at the store, and it is right down the road. Whole community knows each other, so I would think a threat from outside would be the only thing to worry about.
I'll have my normal carry folders, Cuda and EDI Genesis. Might bring the Ka-Bar Next Gen as well, who knows what will happen.

Also, anyone think of the fact some of our sattelites are around 7hrs ahead of us in time? We could be potentially looking at problems at 5pm Dec 31st - something to keep in mind. Then again, if crap goes wrong in New Zealand and all, we'll will likely hear about it around 3:30 am or so, they hit 2000 at 3am eastern time

IF those were my plans, I'd go Boker Orion, or my Sawby C/U folder. Either one can be opened and used in mixed company. The Orion draws praise from the most unexpected people...

Well, Allen Blade and Lucky Dog put it best. I' ll be in my castle but will have on my person my Polkowski Kasper Pug fix blade.

I would stay at home. Not that I expect Y2K to cause any more havok than any other New Year's party. I can just do without hoards of dunks. But if I HAD to leave, I think maybe a Bud Nealy Specialist would complement your party attire nicely. That and something small and folding in your pocket.

Hmmm... since I'll likely be one amongst that "hoard of dunks"

, I'll need to direct this question to my designated driver...!

No substitute for a loaded AK-47 this New years eve and not traveling anywhere. Monitor the coming whatever on shortwave radio as the new year hits or slams into each part of the world before it gets to North America.

Let's see:

Military Plain edge
Large Sebenza
Greco Sm Companion
BM Nimravus
And last but not least The "Lethal" Leatherman Micra.

(I have studied Vampire Gerbils techniques very carefully and feel I have mastered them all)
