Just receive my new Junkyard Dog 2 in the mail. On the blade it says: First Production and right under that it has "1 of 500" Now ya don't suppose that my knife is #1 of 500 and the next knife produced would be #2 of 500? Naaw I don't think so either.... Anybody else out there have #2 or #3 or whatever?

Usually knife companies mark all of their first production knives "1 of 500" or "1 of whatever." If there's a serial number it's probably marked somewhere else on the knife.

Usually if it just one of 500 they will say "1 of 500"

If it is a specific number of 500 they will say "1/500", or "345/500"

Benchmade seems to sequentially number their first production and limited blades. I just got a Mini Dejavoo that is marked "First Production 0347/1000".

And as usual, this may not fully elucidate the whole range of knife numbering schemes.

That means that it is one of five hundred produced in the first production run. Seems like it came up somewhere else and ThomasW (Kershaw's representative) said something to this effect.
