Yakkin' with the Trades

[Guyon]

The old man and his kitchen help made it down to TN today for some boatin' and such.
I rendezvoused with them at the Harpeth Narrows, and we made a roughly five-mile loop together.
We had great weather and a very pleasant float, except for the end where tradewater tried to flip a snake into my boat.
Though I mostly just paddled, I did take along a rod. Only caught two fish, but they were absolute monsters.

Oh yeah, after we left the take-out, I scouted a couple of new put-ins for later trips.
I spotted this shindig and had to take a picture for Moose. Some glare off my back windshield, but still a glorious sight.
He was open for business when I first passed him but was shutting down for the day when I took this pic.
Rumor has it Ark will be sleeping in a Jerkey Shack at the Fall Beckerhead Gathering.

Looked poisonous to me! I didn't even have time to react.
I looked up and there's a snake flying through the air toward my boat.
We should have put him in a purse and set him near the side of Highway 70.

Yeah, it was, but I thought you might want a better look at it.

I wonder if I could have traded it for some jerkey. Does anyone know if jerkey tastes different than jerky? Better? Worse?

A few more pics. It really was a perfect day for a paddle.

We had about 12 miles of scenery like this...

And a shore lunch with the best tasting peanut butter I ever had courtesy of Phat Bob..

We saw this guy coming upstream at us..

And had a wonderful guided tour of the Biscuit's home water..

Including the Montgomery Bell tunnel. We would have paddled right past the inlet to it without a guide.

On a completely unrelated note, I just had chili cheese fries and popcorn shrimp for breakfast. I think I just won at life.

There are a few times you need to be concerned in life, one of which is when the old man is pointing at you. With his tendency to shoot people (for whatever reason), it's never a good thing to be in his sights. The other is when he whips out the peanut butter, because that's when he's going to start calling you fido.
