Buried in the article is this gem; "He looks like a hardened outdoorsman but his flannel feels soft to the touch. He will open your beer with an omni-present Buck knife."

Do you know what this means? It means the world has finally caught up with us Buck Knife men!! OH

Oregon, great idea - we should post photo's of Buck Forum members (wearing actual pre-"lumbersexual" era rustic clothing) and actually using Buck Knives to skin and prep real game animals in the non-virtual world. That first one of David Martin is perfect (we should send it to the magazine!) OH

I read the same article yesterday at the doctor's office and realized my wardrobe was now "hip". I don't feel more "hip".

I agree. Send them some of your photos OH and some of David Martins.

I doubt the young people sporting their buck knives are using them for anything other than bottle openers like the article mentions.

I want to know which buck knife they have with a bottle opener?? Metro? Swiss Buck?.... None of mine do, except the 815 shears, and those stay in the kitchen.
If they are carrying the metro, wouldn't they be metrosexuals.....hahahhaha

If they are carring the metro, wouldn't they be metrosexuals.....hahahhaha

A real lumberman opens bottles with the spine of any knife.

But i am wearing boots, jeans and a flannel shirt today, with a buck knife in my pocket.
In addition, I haven't shaved in a week, so I have a scruffy beard....hahaha
In my defense, I am doing chores in the yard, and we do not live in the city :D
Also, in my defense, those clothing items have been preferred attire for over 30 years. But then again, I also like shorts, flip flops, and short sleeve shirts, with a buck knife in the pocket...... depending on the activity......... :)

As someone who actually logged for a long period of time.

I find the term Lumber-Sexual somewhat unsettling.

Seriously,

I'm sure we are not that far from surgically implanted callouses,
for that extra tough look at parties.

When I lived in Northern California, I had a bunch of friends and neighbors who worked in the logging industry.
None had a full beard, most had a goatee or were clean shaven.
None drank bottled beer. Cans were the way to go, and the empty cans were frequently used for target practice :)
None opened their cans of beer with a buck knife ;)
All had boots, most had flannel shirts, most had pocket knives.
None carried around an axe.
However, most did carry around a chainsaw....lol

I am trying "not to" picture a Paris fashion show, with those runway models looking "rough" as they walk down a runway wearing starched flannel and displaying implanted callouses....

I've run into a couple women in northern Michigan that fit the whole "lumbersexual" thing.

The folks in the UP can put together a great knife and many of them have put a Buck to work but they are strange group. :p

You and me both! I prefer Redneck, country boy or even hick. I are one.

I'm with Fritz on this one. The first time I was called a Redneck was in a work meeting when I was in my 30's that term was unsettling to me at the time (boy, that was a long time ago). As I got older, I realized that it was a term of endearment and not meant as an insult.

jb4570 just a good old boy!!!!

Blue jeans, usually a t-shirt and if it's cold, I throw over a flannel shirt and I probably haven't been without a pair of redwing boots since the 80's.
But I do live in a town of less than 200 in the Ozark Mountains, deer hunt 5 months out of the year and like to tinker with antique tractors and always have a Buck knife in my pocket and have a couple of squirrel dogs. I thought I was hillbilly? I promise I am not a hipster!
