does that WWII have a wide fuller, like a really wide-bladed GS? Are all WWII's like that?

My interest in this basic model could be increasing....

Dan- It was I who wanted a AK Bowie. And look at that one- didn't it have fullers? It was great.

I was right on it too- saw the new thread- but was taking the kids to town and had to go. I pivoted, hovered, quivered, whined, asked my 7 year old to weigh in, and finally left it to the lucky buyer.

Only a khuk nut, a HI khukunut could write about this almost-buy as if it were an interesting topic of conversation. To a lot of other nuts, it's probably not too bad a post, but to the vast majority on the planet they'd have to be wondering what in heck could inspire this much elation, expectation, and deflation? Surely not a knife?

Deflation is what you would've had if you had listened to Hollowdweller. :D
I feel for you Munk!:(

I'll get one, Yvsa. I'll get one before I get a M43- yes folks, there are still some of us who do not own every model HI makes. I've been thinking Bowie next purchase for awhile.

I realize there are very few uses for it compared to my chopping blades. But it looks fun- like a couple semi auto military rifles I can think of; you don't have to have one, but they're fun.

I almost jumped on the 15" Sirupati but held off because I just got one of the 12" village models yesterday.

Just when I think I have this HIKV disease under control, I find out I don't. :(

Keith, some of the WWII's are coming in with fullers now. It's not a standard thing, but seems to be more frequent now. BTW the 16.5" WWII I got last year made by Bura has them. They sure look cool don't they? I'm waiting for a Fullered 18" model. :D

MunK, believe it or not, that's the "new model" AK Bowie without the deep middle fuller. The one I got a month or so ago looks just like it.

I just hope it's got a good temper...don't want one that will fold. How's it look in person Norm?

Very strong, very impressive. I have to agree with Munk and some others that the older Bowie with it's very deep middle fuller just looked a bit meaner and leaner, but the new model is no slouch. Has the deep top fuller just like it's namesake the Ang Khola, and a tapering middle down to a very beefy edge. Mine weighs in at about 1.6 lbs., and has a good full handle. One of the horn panels on mine is longer than the other, so needs to be sanded back a bit, but that is purely cosmetic. Overall, the feeling I get with mine is that if I felt like delimbing a tree or an elk I would be well tooled in either case!

So far I have only chopped on a 2 X 4 with it, which showed it had a good tough edge and was easy to handle.

YMMV, but I suspect you will be happy with your choice, especially at the great price you managed to snag it at! :)

Regards,

Norm
