Just opened a box from Yangdu containing the Elk Indonesian Sword from 1/28. This was listed as coming with a special gift. WOW:thumbup: The surprise was much more than I expected! :D :D :D :D :D

It is a beautiful knife with a stunning finger-grooved chandan(?) handle with strips of horn and antler on each end between the brass buttcap and guard. The sheath has a separate compartment containing a sharpening stone. The knife is 14" and 12.5 ounces with a 5" handle and 9" blade, made by Sher. It is full tang. I have seen similar knives on the forum but have no idea where. Anyone know the name of this model? Perhaps some type of fisherman's knife?

These quick pictures do not do the wood justice but my light is inadequate at the moment.

Thanks once more Yangdu for your generosity. And the Elk Indonesian Sword is awesome, I will post a review sometime.

Very generous gift. Looks like the model Yangdu called "hunting knife". Great photos Lloyd.

i am so jealous!!! :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:
LOL!!! sweet gift... thanks for sharing :D
auntie is the best!!!

I've had a chance to play with this knife some more and have found it to be very ergonomic. The finger grooves are well placed and when the thumb is on top of the spine you have a lot of control for up close work. This will be a very useful knife.
Thanks Yangdu,
Lloyd

Beautiful knife Lloyd. My long handled tibetan sword came with quite a nice tepisic. hat, My girlfreind thinks I look silly wearing it but I wear it pretty frequently as a light toque or a toque liner. I would really like to post pictures of my tibetan now that I have finaly got my camera back, if someone could explain the process to technologicaly impared me, I would grealy appreciate it.

Hi Grob, those Tibetan Swords are very nice. To post pictues on the forum:
