There has been a dead tree covered in vines hanging over the fence in my yard for a while now, so since it was a nice day I decided it was time to take care of it. I really didn't want to damage my fence in the process, but I also really didn't want to pay someone to remove it for me, so I ended up doing it myself (with some help from my son and dog). Fortunately, it went exactly as I planned it, and I got a lot of use with my Res-C handled knives in the process.

I had to do the chopping from a ladder so I used a small axe instead of a knife just to save some time (of course I could have used my chainsaw but what fun is that).

The top of the tree was black, and as odd as it is to say, it almost looked like melted wood. There were several spots along the trunk that were very charred, so my best guess is that it was hit by lightening.

I got to spend the next couple hours using my BB13 and 1311 chopping through vine and log. It was a bit of a PITA getting through all of the vines, but it was a fun process nonetheless, and my son (with his plastic rambo knife) and dog pitched in to help. It was a great day!
