My wife asked me to take down a small tree in the backyard the other day. So, out came I with my Khukuri (Super Chiruwa 16"). She was talking about how it was probably going to be fairly difficult to cut down and I just nodded along with her.

I took one swing and went clean through.

Her response:

"oh...."

Pretty funny.:D

That's great. My wife was happy when she saw me actually using the khuks for work around the yard. My first experience with my 18" WWII was the same. I said to myself, I wonder how many chops it will take to cut through this branch? One swing, the branch hit the ground and I was a convert!

Yeah... It was pretty funny. Her eyes got really big too. I would have paid good money to see the whole scene on video tape :D

Until you actually swing a khuk with real purpose, you really have no clue just how effective a tool it really is. And I can see exactly why the Ghurkas choose to carry them.

**Edited to add...
I misstated the type of Khukuri I used - It was a 16.5" Chiruwa Ang Khola.

...."Ok, that's enough trees now..."
My wife to me after observing a loss of habitat in our back yard.

Great thread. Yea my wife was impressed and terrified the first time she saw a khuk take a limb. He he.

Funny she put the brakes on your tree trimming fun Munk. LOL. Thank God for women.
