Well I decided to do a little bit of yard work today seeing how we finally have a day without rain. So I figured I would give the Machax a good workout!

All of these were cut down with the machax, The picture does not do the volume justice. There were probably 100 stocks of this (tree, shrub, bush?) ranging from 1/2" to 4" for the biggest one.

I quickly learned about the sweet spot, right on the belly of the blade, It was slicing 1" Trunks with one hit. It was actually easier to cut if you swung vertical to the wood grain, almost like you were trying to split it.

I used it for about an hour splitting wood and cutting down the shrubs. I felt no strain on my wrist, It feels light and quick in the hand. The only problem I had was getting a hot spot on my pinkie but it was nothing major. I used the maul for the bigger hunks of pin oak and used the Machax to do the fine work, and let me tell you this thing splits like a champ, I was splitting the wood not batoning it, and it does it with ease.

When you swing it, it has a very good deep bite. Plus its way more fun and less tiring to use the Machax instead of the Maul!

Well hopefully this gets you guys ramped up for the release of the new machax? It is a very versatile blade that feels fairly light and fast in the hand, but still built like a tank. Splits, chops, and batons with the best of them. Overall I am very impressed with this knife!!

I think I read maybe shot show 2012? They've been dropping some hints with proto pictures

Zaleski, where is your Machax from? A prototype of the yet-to-be-released new ones?

I agree with your assessment - my Machax is my favourite blade by far. A little more porn to ease the wait:

It's a camillus era Machax. I believe in the FAQ section there are a couple pics of the Machax prototype

Zaleski.............

ROCKON.... I hate you !!:D I was going to buy a '70's version once and wished I had, those are the most versatile bikes in the WORLD!!! have you ever went hill climbing with it?? that is super sweet:thumbup:, I'd like to see the wheel compartment:) very nice indeed!!!!!

and yes I'm also a little jealous of the knife:) You're right about the swing, I found with a common machete you can cut a 2" diameter green if you approach it at 70ish degree's with a 90degree branch or vise-versa in 1-2 swings most the time..

never tried the machax I'd be interested in a comparison against an HI Khukuri with similar weight.. ;)

Nice work man..

What kind of sheath is the new machax going to have????

How its glass filled nylon or kydex....

yea It will go more places than you will be able to stay on top of it, Its amazing how the 6 hp engine will grunt right up a steep hill or over logs.
