Occasionally, I will stray off of my self imposed reservation of collecting forged fixed blades.

This Drop Point Hunter by Yasuo Ochiai, engraved by Pat Holder, just jumped off the Nordic page and demanded that I buy it.
When it arrived, I was stunned by the fit and finish and beautiful flow that compares very well with the incomparable Loveless design.
The Blade is 3.5" and it is 7.5" overall. The tang is tapered with Ironwood scales.
The engraving is supposedly on nickel silver, but it sure looks like stainless to me.

The only pearl that Google has yielded, about the maker, is that he was well regarded in Seki City in the 1970s.

Any information about the maker would be appreciated.

Nice!!
There's so many fine knifemakers around the world who are fairly un-known.
I like Pat Holder (D's wife) engraving as well, it most likely is stainless I would think.

Can't give you any info on the maker, but I can say that knife looks real nice - clean lines and lovely engraving.

Peter, the maker is Japanese. Any time you need in depth information like this, feel free to call on me.:D

Pat Holder's engraving is seldom seen on any knives other than by her husband, D'Alton Holder. It's always very lovely, attributable both to her talent and also to the fact that she was trained by her friend, Julie Warenski.

It seems that he does not have his web site.
He is a member of JKG(Japan Knifemakers Guild) and JCKM(Japan Custom Knife Show), and attends knife shows in Japan.
His name in Japanese is "落合 康男".
He is a maker who is continuing making knives for long years, and shown in old backnumber of Japanese KNIFE MAGAZINE.
