Yatagan? Ottoman?

Hello,

Wondering if someone can help me ID this sword. I believe it's a Yatagan from the Ottoman Empire, but I don't know what period or what materials, etc. Is the grip (which is broken) bone? Is that gold inlay? Does it say something or is it purely decorative? The little creature on the bottom of the scabbard seems like he had gems for eyes at one point. Any and all information would be really appreciated.
