Hi all members of the forum.
I'm here to show you some pics of a piece that was awared in last november at the Sao Paulo Knife Show as best new maker.
After making some research, I went to my shop and made this 12"1/4 52100 integral forged blade( a smaller version of the original).
the blade is 1"1/2 wide;
The handle is made of Guajuvira;
The sheath in the pics is the 3th of the 4 sheaths I made for this knife.The last one I made in a darker brown;
I'll post the pics of the definitive sheath.
Well he sheath is made of bufalo leather with a stainless "pin" made in the same shape of the blade(at least it should be) hehehehe;
Hope you guys like it.

Thanks guys...
I have to thank Luciano Dorneles and Rodrigo Sfreddo for giving me suport trough this almost two years that I'm involved in the custom knifemaking.
Without them I wouldn't even know about this magnificent world that is the cutlery.
I thank you all too for the kind words. they always makes me do more and better.
Best regards

It's very nice to see our historical sword: Yataghan! Yatağan in Turkish. However, the end of handle should be eared to both side.
And the passing to blade from handle... This knife is like chef's knife in this aspect. However, in original Yataghan, there's no square-wave pass in the joint point between handle and blade.
And third. After handle, blade doesn't start directle. There should be a triangular object on the start point of blade.
Just look at:

that is definitely a fine piece of cutlery:thumbup::cool:

Dear Yultuz.
Thanks for sharing this important information.
At the time I was making some research, I did notice all of your considerations.
The only thing that I can say to you is that I'm a begginer, and I tried to put some yataghan's inspiration on the piece.
I hope to do such a fine job in the near future.
Best regards
Daniel Jobim

Daniel - I certainly took this to be a contemporary rendition of a Yataghan-inspired piece. And in that regard, I think you definitely suceeded.

Yataghan is the sword of Janissaries (Yeñiçeri in Türkish), the soldier of the Ottoman Empire. At the same time Yatağan is a county of Deñizli city in Türkiye.
This is my first time to see that Yatağan is made by foreigners. Opinel claims that they use Yatağan shape in their classical blade. However, yours is better than theirs. Thank you so much for your interest. Katana in Japan, Yatağan in Türkiye.

Thanks Yultuz.
I sure want to keep in touch with you to learn more about your culture.
maybe you can e-mail me so we can change some infomation.
here are some more pics of the piece.

The ears at the end of the handle are more visible in the recent pictures. Great work. Please look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Yatagan.jpg. Pay attention to the ears. And the triangular connection (among the blue point).
There're many bladesmiths, katanasmiths in Japan. However, in Türkiye, there're very little people busy with knife making. Swordsmith, there's no one...

Thanks for sharing again. Loved the ears
I noticed the triangular conection.
It's a very beautifull work.
I wish to do it some day.
Best regards

Hi Dani.
Congratulations for the wonderful piece. Beautiful, clean, balanced and faithful to the concept of the yataghan.
That is fruit of your effort and of your love for the art.
Congratulations for the award.
Many others will come.
Of your brother.

I had the oportunity to check this piece at last year´s SPKS and it is even more impressive in hand than in the pics! It is very, very clean and elegant.
Daniel sure deserved his award!
