Thanks for posting the pix, Bill.

Well, the first picture isn't a yataghan, that's for sure... It's my second attempt at a late medieval-style 'riding sword', after the second grind but before tidying and buffing. Just included it for fun...

The second picture is the prototype yataghan, also second-ground and unpolished. I've done quite a bit of testing with it; it ain't broken yet, and it cuts rather nicely.

The third picture is a detail of the flattened section on the spine, which gives the thin blade extra strength & rigidity. I copied this feature from an old Afghan 'khyber knife', which is a similar design to the yataghan. (You can also see the really ugly scale inclusion... I know better now, of course.)

I seem to remember there was enough interest in a HI yataghan to make the project viable. If you're still interested and like the look of this design, I'll do some detailed specs.

Pakcik Bill, Tom, Forumites.

I am not good at all in Yataghan but I guess there is a slight (I really means ver slight) difference between Tom's and the one in the following pix: http://www.liongate-armsandarmour.com/bq62.htm
Anyhow ... slight enhancement might worth to do ... sincerely it is a great work Tom!

Very nice Tom!

I don't know which one I like more. The bottom one looks like it could deliver a devastating blow.

Tom, any pictures or updates on the 30 inch kobra you reworked?
