I'm not sure if this has been posted but was kind of interesting. I was surprised to see handles being welded on. I like the straightening jig. I wonder how many knives get snapped a year.

 
Have to say that I'm pretty envious of that wet grinder sharpening set up. Very impressive.

you mean the TIG welded handle snapping off? I'm going to guess very few, otherwise they wouldn't use this method.
Also you probably know that a properly welded component won't snap off. :)
 
i think he was referring to the knives being straightened :rolleyes: very cool video !
Ya I meant the guy straightening. Way faster than my method of clamp to bar with washers, over bend in tempering over and repeat multiple time till you get it right.

I get so queezy seeing that given that the plastic limit and yield limit are so close. Especially with a bunch of holes in the tang. That guy had it down.
